LandMark Development Receives Conservation Award

LandMark Development has been selected by the United States EPA and Chicago Wilderness for the 2009 Conservation and Native Landscaping Award for its 400 acre Deer Hills/Deer Woods II development in Belvidere, Illinois

The Conservation and Native Landscaping Awards recognize developments that are exemplary in terms of native landscaping, ecosystem restoration and protection and conservation design.  The Deer Hills/Deer Woods II project was singled out for its 90-acre “Eco-Spine” which created a natural corridor running through the entire project and is made up of naturalized areas surrounding Beaver Creek.  It includes large open water ponds, islands, shallow marsh areas, downed logs, aquatic plants as well as native upland prairie all of which provide valuable wildlife habitat. “LandMark Development has a history of investing for the long term. We recognize that environmental sustainability is a continuous effort that requires prudent use and preservation of our natural resources,” said John Folvig, a partner with LandMark.  “Our buyers are attracted to the natural open spaces and appreciate the scenic views throughout the neighborhoods that provide homeowners with a strong connection to nature”, said Folvig.

The 2009 Conservation and Native Land Awards ceremony was held December 10th at the Chicago Botanic Garden
